Fat Bottom Babies Cloth Diaper Review – Tulsa

Fat Bottom Babies Diaper ReviewBy Maggie
I was very lucky at this year’s Great Cloth Diaper Change, and I went home with $20 to spend at Fat Bottom Babies. I’d never heard of Tabatha Bell or seen her amazing WAHM diapers, but once I checked out her site and Facebook, I was pretty excited. And now I’m excited to share my love of her work with others! I think it’s great to support WAHM, especially local ones. Tabatha is so easy to work with, too, so that makes it all the nicer!
I currently own three Fat Bottom Babies diapers: two pockets and an AI2. I’ve had them for about month.
The Whimsy Birds pocket (the blue diaper pictured on my newborn at 19 days and at almost 7 weeks) is a “seconds”, meaning it’s fully functional, but it had a reduced price due to cosmetic defects. This one in particular has a smaller pocket opening (I can still easily stuff in the smaller insert) and a narrower crotch. That works great for my baby girl, and I imagine it would fit my petite toddler just as well.
The Flowery Mess pocket is now my favorite pocket for my toddler. When I put two of Tabatha’s amazing inserts in them, she can last the whole night without leaks. And I’m not normally a super girly girl, and most of my stash is gender-neutral, but I love the neon pink!
The AI2 is in the Fluttering By print. I use it as a cover and have put it on both of my girls. It does have a snap-in insert feature to make it function like an AIO, and I could imagine wanting snap-in inserts for it when we’re at another “wriggly” stage. I’m excited to try a regular PUL only cover sometime, because reusing the cover makes for less laundry, which makes for a happy mama. πŸ™‚
I had one minor leak before I had fully prepped the diapers, but now I really believe in them. Tabatha’s inserts, which can be used in a pocket, or in a cover, are so absorbent! Zorb still sounds like an alien to me, but she knows what she’s doing with her particular combo of fabrics. The diapers fit quite trim and there’s plenty of room for growth. That’s why I love one-size diapers so much.
Tabatha’s work looks top-notch to me. I’m very impressed with how the diapers fit, especially around the legs. They are nice and snug on the thighs, but not too tight at all. Also, Tabatha’s creativity is amazing! She’s recently made her own designs for fabrics, so you know that the resulting diaper is unique. Very soon she’ll have her diapers in a storefront, and hopefully our town will be overrun with Fat Bottom Babies. πŸ™‚
